Mr. Christopher Mumphrey, Sr.Funeral services for Christopher Mumphrey, Sr., 55, of Kilgore, Texas,
will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 in the Victory Funeral
Services Chapel, with Elder Jimmy Butler officiating. Arrangements are under
the direction of Victory Funeral Services.Christopher, more affectionately known as Dino or Cowboy, was born to the
parentage of Robert Earl and Shirley Tyeskie Mumphrey in Longview,
Texas, Tuesday, August 22, 1963 and he
departed this life Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Christus Good Shepherd
Medical Center.In his early years, he attended West View Church of Christ prior to
relocating to Phoenix, Arizona.His elementary education was garnered in the Kilgore
Independent School
District with graduation in 1982 from Kilgore High School.He was passionate about cars and was an accomplished mechanic. Most of his
adult life his work career evolved around truck driving until his health
failed. Thirty six years ago he relocated to Phoenix due to the encouragement and support
of his late uncle, Willie James Mumphrey and pursued his passion of trucking
with inspiration from his other uncle, the late Shannon Earl Mumphrey.
Dino was quite a jokester and always kept a smile on his and others faces. He
was known for his impeccable dress of always being “starched and ironed” in his
Cowboy attire. As an avid cowboy he enjoyed raising horses and rodeo
activities. With a kind heart he was always available to help others in the
neighborhood.His parents preceded him in death.He remains in the hearts of his daughter, Christine Mumphrey of Yokosuka,
Japan; sons, Christopher Mumphrey, Jr. and Anthony Mumphrey both of Kilgore, TX
and Tyquan Mumphrey of Phoenix, AZ; step-son, Michael Calvin, Sr. of Phoenix,
AZ; grandmother, Dollie Mae Tyeskie of Kilgore, TX; sisters, Brenda Wheat and
husband, Danny of Kilgore, TX; Tracy Jordan and husband, Tony of Dallas, TX;
Linda Garrett and husband, Carlton of Yulee, FL; Robin Dukes and LaTaya Price
and husband, Lorenzo all of DeSoto, TX;
brother, Kenneth Ray Mumphrey of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Khalil
Mumphrey, Aeryn Mumphrey and Aaliyah Mumphrey all of Phoenix, AZ; step
grandchildren, Michael Calvin, Jr., Nehemiah Calvin, Treyvon Calvin and Kennedy
Calvin all of Phoenix. AZ; special friends, Phil Neno and “Uncle” Karey and “Aunt”
Minnie Hooks all of Phoenix,
AZ. and a host of other relatives and friends.Public viewing will be Friday, November 2, 2018, from noon until 6:30 p.m.
