services for James Willie Clark, Sr. 76, of Lufkin,
Texas, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May
7, 2016 at True Vine
Baptist Church
in San Augustine, Texas with Rev. S. J. Clark officiating.
Burial will follow at Gethsemane
Cemetery. Arrangements
are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services of Kilgore, Texas.James was born to Tim and Hazel Malone Clark on Tuesday,
November 28, 1939 in San Augustine,
Texas. He departed this life on Tuesday,
April 26, 2016 at his residence.As
a youngster, James united with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. He attended Paradise
Public Schools in his youth. Later he went to work at the Swan Ice House. Upon his
relocation to Houston, Texas and joining the AFL-CIO Union Local 18;
he worked until his retirement in the construction industry. After his
retirement he returned to his hometown where he re-entered the work force as a
machinist at one of the local saw mills until his second retirement.
He was an avid sports fans; supporting the Miami Dolphins, Houston Rockets and Astros and was a very talented dancer..
In his early adulthood, he married Linda Davis and
five children were born to this union. Later in 1970, he met Yvette Portley who
was to become his wife and companion for the next 46 years and two children
were born to this union. They along with an older daughter completed his
parentage of eight children. His
parents, two sons, an unnamed infant and James “BooBoo” Clark, Jr., a daughter,
Vicki Clark, brother, Earnest Clark, sister, Minnie Lou Clark and a granddaughter,
VinShera Holman all preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Yvette Clark of Lufkin, TX; five daughters and
sons-in-law, Chandra Bass of Houston, TX; Cheryl Blow and husband, Charles of Lancaster,
TX; Deborah Flowers and husband, Byron of Hutchins, TX; Wendi Brown and
husband, Kylie of Hutchins, TX; Youlanda Clark of Lufkin, TX; a son and
daughter-in-law, Anthony Clark and wife, Laquita of Nacogdoches, TX; a sister,
Velma Clark-Buckner of Houston, TX; two brothers, Charles Clark and Clifford
Clark both of Houston, TX; a step-brother, Tommy Wade of Houston, TX; 16 grandchildren,
Damion Leonard, Ivy Bass, Orry Blow and wife, Carla, Shannon Blow and wife,
Ashley, Latisha Flowers, April Flowers, Stephan Blair, Kywin Brown, Brayden
Brown, Dorian Brown, Alexis Pleasant, Keynnon Madlock, D’vysee’ Garrett, Adejha
Clark, Avarion Clark and Ashton Clark; four great-grandchildren, Niaja, Orryetta,
Jacqueline and Glory ; brothers and sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Vernon Stoker,
Sr. and De’Lores P. Arline, all of Longview, TX and Kim and Regina Geter of
Kilgore, TX; special friends, Floyd Nobles and Jack “Jap” Crain and a host of
other relatives and friends.Public
viewing will be one hour prior to and at the end of the funeral service.
