Mrs. Caudy Belle Williams
(Click on thumbnail to enlarge photos)Caudy Belle Roberson was the third child born to the parentage of David Sandy and Eliza Sibley Roberson in Kilgore, Texas on May 30, 1942. She departed this life on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at The Willows of Kilgore.She joined and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church at an early age. After marriage she united with the Fredonia Baptist Church where she served as president of the deaconess for a number of years and was conferred president emeritus. She also served as the Mission president, Rally Day Organizer, and Sunday School teacher for the Women’s Class for many years.Caudy graduated from Fredonia High School in 1959. After graduation she received her bachelor’s degree in 1967 and her master’s degree in 1974 from Stephen F. Austin State University. She was recognized by the Association of African American Alumni as being among the first African Americans to graduate from SFASU. She was a charter member of the Kilgore Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. She also served as president of both Kilgore and Longview Alumnae Chapters.After 27 years as a math teacher; she retired from the Kilgore Independent School District. The Kilgore Chamber of Commerce recognized her as Teacher of the Year 1991-1992. She held memberships in the Outstanding Young Women in America, Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, Beta Mu chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Caudy was united in holy matrimony to Sidney Templeton Williams on September 19, 1959 and from this union one son was born, Dennis Williams.Her parents, husband, and brother, John Roberson all preceded her in death.She leaves to cherish her memory, her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Ruth Williams of Kilgore, TX; two grandchildren, Wesley & Amber Williams of Kilgore, TX; sisters, Robbie Sue Howard and Doris Bogan both of Dallas, TX: a special niece and her spouse, Marilyn and James Johnson of Dallas, TX; brothers and sisters-in-law, Winston and Sandra Williams and Carl Williams all of Kilgore, TX; Jo Ella Williams Jones of Longview, TX; Cleo and Arthur Lee Mumphrey of Liberty City, TX; Margaret and Curly Buard of Dallas, TX and Irish Gail Williams of Longview, TX; Aubrey Todd of San Angelo, TX; J.T. Reddic of Overton, TX; and Wanda Kenney Williams of Kilgore, TX plus a host of other relatives and friends.
