Mrs. Karen Wheat Mumphrey
Funeral services for Karen Sue Wheat Mumphrey, 60, of Kilgore,
Texas will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Westview Church
of Christ with Brother John Smith as eulogist and Brother Buck Wiley
officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Pirtle
Baptist Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services. Karen was born to the
parentage of Henry and Lizzie Mae Wheat on Tuesday, October 28, 1958 in Sweetwater, Texas and
departed this life Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in Kilgore, Texas. Early in life, Karen united
with and was baptized at West View Church of Christ and often attended Holy
Chapel Church of God in Christ with her husband during his lifetime. Her education was garnered
in the Kilgore public schools. Karen married Willie Gene
Mumphrey and five children were born to the union. They were the love of her
life. In her spare time she enjoyed
spending time with her entire extended family, watching television and playing
cards. Family members that
preceded her in death are her parents, two sons, Christopher Wheat Mumphrey and
Anthony Wheat Mumphrey, and two sisters, Linda Wheat and Daisy Wheat. She will forever be cherished by her daughter,
Marlissa Wheat and her companion, L. C. Williams of Kilgore, TX; two sons,
Willie Gene Wheat Mumphrey of Tennessee Colony, TX and Jermaine Wheat Mumphrey
of Kilgore, TX; sisters, Lizzie Wheat Griffin of Longview, TX; Darlene Wheat
Taylor of Kilgore, TX; and Willie Mae Wheat of Longview, TX; brothers, Eugene
Wheat, Jessie Wheat and Henry Wheat all of Kilgore, TX; daughter-in-law, Angela
Bible of Longview, TX; two grandsons, Lawrence Christopher Williams of Kilgore,
TX; and Anthony Wheat-Bible, Jr. of Longview, TX; an aunt, Mary Wilson of
Overton, TX; mother-in-law, Mamie Mumphrey of Tyler, TX; sisters-in-law, Louise
Medford and husband, F. D. of Henderson, TX; Debra Smith and husband, Mark of
Dallas, TX; Margaret Benton and husband, Gary of Tyler, TX; brothers-in-law,
Alvin Akin of Kilgore, TX; Johnny Mumphrey and wife, Vickie of Dallas, TX; and
Elder Kevin Mumphrey and wife, Theressa of Tyler; TX and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be at Victory Funeral Services on Friday, October 18, 2019 from
noon until 6:30 p.m.
