Graveside services for Sandra Sheppard Jackson, 71, of Flint, Texas formerly of Overton, Texas will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Harmony Pirtle Baptist Cemetery in Kilgore, Texas with Rev. Carlos N. Whitaker as eulogist. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services.
Mrs. Sandra F. Sheppard Jackson was born Friday, December 2, 1949 in Overton, Texas, to the parentage of Joel and Margarie Medlock Sheppard. She departed the life on Wednesday morning, April 21, 2021, in Tyler, Texas.
Sandra was united in Holy Matrimony to Charles Jackson January 31, 1969, and to this union, one son Anthony “Tony” was born.
Sandra attended New London Colored School and West Rusk High School where she played basketball and graduated in the Class of 1967. She attended Kilgore Junior College and graduated from Kilgore Cosmetology School.
Early in life she united with and was baptized at Harmony Pirtle Baptist Church. Her most current membership was at Galilee Baptist Church in Flint, Texas where she served as an usher and worked with the Hospitality Ministry.
For several years, Sandra worked as a cashier for Safeway Stores and as a Resident Supervisor at Northeast Texas Treatment Center. Sandra’s dream was to own and operate a clothing store which became a reality in 2004 when she opened Sandra’s Boutique, which only took second place to the other love of her life, her doggie baby, Chuckie.
Sandra is gone; but will not be forgotten. She shall always be remembered for her warm personality, love of life and helping others. She was always giving to others whether it was her time or something from the store. She was ready to help when needed or if she recognized the need and did what was necessary. Sandra had a unique ability to bring laughter and love to all those around her and she was known as the Black Beauty Queen around Overton.
Her parents, Margarie Medlock Garrett and Joel Sheppard, stepfather Ike Garret, sister Wanda Henry, and father-in-law, Fennis Jackson preceded her in death.
She leaves to remember and celebrate her life, her husband, Charles Jackson of Flint, TX, son Anthony “Tony” Jackson of Flint, TX; niece/daughter, Bridget Henry, Mesquite, TX, step-son, Tyson Hamilton of Overton, TX, three granddaughters, Channee Jones of Dallas, TX, Amber Jackson of Overton, TX; and DeAuntra Crain of Indianapolis, IN; one grandson, Jeremiah, three great grandsons, DaBraylon, Chase, and Carter; one great granddaughter, Karleigh; one brother, George Smith and his wife, Ella of Richardson, TX; two half-sisters, Kay Hawkins of New London, TX and Michelle Williams of Kilgore, TX; two half-brothers, Joel Sheppard, Jr. and his wife, Angelis of Longview, TX, and Robert Thompson and his wife, Rayanna of Dallas, TX; two nieces, Paulette Bradford and her husband, Kimble of Mesquite TX and Joyce Marie Smith of Wylie, TX; one nephew Eric Smith and his wife, Star of Dallas, TX; one aunt Josie Mayfield of Desoto, TX; daughter-in-love Koreyan Crain of Indianapolis, IN; mother-in-law, Mollie Jackson of Overton, TX; brothers-in-law, Larry Jackson and his wife, Wanda and Andre Jackson and his wife, Sheanna, sisters-in-law, Alpha Manning and her husband, Raymond and Felicia Jackson; favorite cousins, Nattlon Dennis and her husband, Harvey of Longview, TX; and Sheila Medlock of Overton, TX; special friends, Dorothy Washington, Ruth Mayfield, and Ann Thompson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be at Victory Funeral Services on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 2 to 7 p.m. via exterior walk-up or drive-thru.
Social distancing and masks will be required of all attendants at the graveside service. It is advisable to bring a chair if you do not wish to stand throughout the service
